Ancient materials and contemporary processes collide in Yambe Tam’s artworks, displacing them outside of geologic time and space. They are artifacts excavated from a cosmic dimension, revealing invisible structures of reality: wormholes, black holes, frequencies, evolving consciousness. Such things are at once sacred and profane, a scientific and spiritual revelation of the invisible that can only be accomplished by man and machine working in tandem: hand and laser, chance and control, error and perfection. Full understanding is a journey of dominance and submission between the self and the unknown; in this environment, which is part temple, part laboratory, and part dungeon, it is only through complete surrender that you reach an embodied experience connecting mind and body.
